I have to admit something, I have serious issues with baked fruit. I just don’t understand it, fruits are meant to be eaten raw, cold and fresh. At least that’s what my mind tells me, this is very strange coming from someone from Holland where Apple Pie is pretty much the national dessert!
I’ve always thought that this concept of baking with fruit would never change. I’m not sure it has entirely but this cake has certainly opened the door to a whole new world for me.
I think I’ve made this recipe more times than I care to admit, once even making it 2 or 3 times in a week!
The cake itself is delicious! Soft and warm with a deep flavour of cinnamon which is what I feel is apple’s best friend.
The recipe is one of my all time favourites because its a super easy, one bowl recipe that can be made within minutes AND it produces a cake good enough to be eaten warm! No hours long cooling time is a major plus in my household.
Keep in mind that the batter is very stiff. This is normal because most of the moisture comes from the apples themselves so just make sure to use a wooden spoon and don’t over mix.
Wow, look so ymmy ! thanks Linda for sharing!

Lovely! I am with you…. I like my fruits cold and raw, with one exception of course… apples! I will definitely try this one. Is this a typical Dutch recipe?
Hi Annika 🙂 I’m not really sure where apple cakes originated but in The Netherlands we’re more cultural with a thick and spiced apple pie 🙂 I guess apple cakes are a toned down version of pies 😉 😉 I hope you try this recipe, it’s super delicious! 🙂 thanks for your sweet comment xx
