Donuts! Yeah I know, again π but I can’t help my weak spots! That warm and buttery, perfectly fried and soft dough just slathered in glaze… who can resist! π
Today’s version are by far my favourite combination of flavours ever! White chocolate and dark chocolate, black and white, creamy and luscious. Ultra delicious, ultra addictive! π
It all started when I saw all these different variations of black and white cookies pretty much everywhere on the internet, so I thought it’d be fun to create a donut version π
I’m not sure if the classic black and white combo is vanilla and chocolate but for these donuts I used white chocolate and dark chocolate and my oh my were they amazing!
My family also say they look like Cruella DeVil so that is what they’re known as now! π
The donuts themselves are super easy and straightforward, my much loved classic donuts recipe. I made the two separate glazes on the thicker side so that I can smear them on easily. Both are very simple, just chocolate, icing sugar, a bit of butter and splash of hot water. Nothing complicated here π
Really you could also just dunk the donuts into each glaze at a tilt to get a marble effect or even just do one flavour, whatever you like but just make sure to try them. They are soo very delicious and I’m already brain storming a ton of other “Cruella” desserts! π
Make sure to check out this post for details and more information on how to make the donut dough.
I hope you guys get to try out these donuts soon and tag me with your pics please! @dutchbakerblog on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter π
Black And White Donuts
Make 12 – 14 donuts.
Ingredients
- One recipe classic homemade donuts
White chocolate glaze
- 1/2 cup (63gms) icing sugar
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- 1 oz (28gms) white chocolate, melted
- 2 teaspoons light corn syrup or honey
- 1 – 2 teaspoons hot water
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dark chocolate glaze
- 1/2 cup (63gms) icing sugar
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons light corn syrup or honey
- 1 oz (28gms) dark chocolate
- 1 – 2 teaspoons hot water
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- Prepare donuts according to directions in this post.
- Make the two glazes: in two separate bowls, whisk together all the ingredients of the white chocolate in one bowl and all the ingredients of the dark chocolate in the other one. Add water had needed to make a thick glaze. Keep in mind that the donuts are still warm when glazing so the glaze will thin out.
- Once donuts are fried and cooling on a wire rack, take each one and using a knife, smear each half with the two glazes. Return to wire racks to set.
Donuts are best served warm within the first day but can be stored in an air tight container for up to two days.
